kiva.org is a great site. Kiva allows you to lend money to people in less wealthy parts of the world in order to help them better their standard of living.
So far I have made a few loans. You can see my lender profile. One of the things that I like about Kiva is that you are directly helping a specific person as opposed to donating to a charity which disburses the money as they see fit.
I know there are many worthy charities that do a great job of helping people who are less fortunate. But, I like knowing exactly to whom my money is going.

This photo was taken in May, 2008 in the town of Mascota in Jalisco, Mexico.
I like how the adobe finish has peeled off the wall and has formed a question mark with the door below.
Mascota is a beautiful old Mexican town with great photo opportunities everywhere. The local ice cream shop looked straight out of a movie.

Rancho la Esmeralda is a great place to stay in Mascota

Photos of Randy’s Donuts located on the corner of Manchester and La Cienega in Inglewood, California taken on Juy 29, 2008. Happiness is a warm cake donut.
The Los Angeles Conservancy says:
Designed by Robert Graham, Randy’s Donuts (1953) is a classic example of mid 20th century programmatic architecture, where the shape of the building represents the product sold within.
